The River Camp · Sixteen Sites

The same river.
Closer to it.

Sixteen sites on the bank below the ranch. Some are furnished and some are bare camping ground, and the difference between them is only ever how much gear you packed.

What this is

A different way to be on the same land.

The caves stay close to sixty degrees, whatever the canyon is doing outside. At river level, you get the environment as it comes — spectacular sunrises, the cool of the water, the wind ahead of the rain.

That is part of the experience. For some guests, it is exactly the point.

The options below are laid out simply: what we provide, and what you should arrive with. The main difference between the three is what you bring to the site.

Before you book

When to come, and what to expect

April – early June, and September – October
These are the seasons when the camp is at its best — warm days, cold nights, the river running, and the cottonwoods changing with the season.

Late June, July and August
Summer at river level is hot. The canyon holds the heat, and days along the river can be demanding. If you are visiting in midsummer, we recommend considering a cave instead.

November – March
Winter here is quiet and cold. The furnished tents remain comfortable through the colder months, while most bare sites close for the season.

Come prepared.
The camp is forty-five minutes from Moab along the river road. There is nothing to buy here. Bring what you need for your stay and settle into the quiet.
