The Cave House

Three bedrooms cut into the rock, with handmade stone walls, a proper kitchen, and a terrace on the roof to watch the sun go down from. It is the largest thing on this property carved rather than built.

What there is

Three rooms inside the rock

A living room with the redrock through the window, a kitchen you can actually cook a week of dinners in, three bedrooms, and stairs to a flat roof with nothing above it.

Why it is unusual

A house you cook and sleep and sit on top of, cut into a cliff

The caves are single rooms. This is not that. It is a whole house taken out of the rock — living room, kitchen, three bedrooms — with stone walls laid by hand where the rock stopped and the building had to start.

The roof is the part people remember. Stairs come up onto a flat terrace with the canyon on three sides and nothing overhead.

Where it stands

Closed, and worth waiting for

The Cave House is not currently open to guests. It is the most unusual room on the property, and we are taking the time to make sure it is ready before we open it.

If the Cave House is what brings you here, let us know. We will tell you when it is available.

Getting here

Forty-five minutes of river road

The ranch sits on a hundred and thirty acres at the end of a dirt road, ringed by public land. Bring what you need for the stay — a whole house of people is a lot to drive back into town for.
